Pulse, the boutique trade event, takes place in just a few weeks time from the 14th – 16th May at London Olympia. The beautifully curated trade event has a special emphasis on emerging makers, inspiring new gifts, modern living and cutting-edge fashion accessories.

Pulse inspiring gifts

Two expert retailers have selected their top picks of products at Pulse, choosing the crème de la crème of new exciting products ready for retail. The two retail experts are Andrea Bates, the founder of Future and Found, iconic homeware concept store based in London’s Tufnell Park; And Helen Osgerby, founder of Simple Shape, an online retailer which presents an edit of the best British and Irish design from both emerging makers and established craftspeople.

Andrea Bates – Future and Found:

1. Before Breakfast | E29

“This collection looks great – it’s practical but really well designed. We are real stationery geeks here at Future and Found!”

2. Scout Editions | E21

“Love the cute, naïve but graphic print on a tea towel – makes doing the dishes fun!”

3. Over the C | D28

“We love a fluoro pop! It’s really fun and eye catching on a range of greetings cards. Mixed with a simple graphic typographic print, it’s just up our street.”

4. Geo-fleur | F7

“There’s a real trend for plants and pots at the moment so these simple pared back ceramic planters look ideal for a selection of succulents.”

5. Wrap | J53

“I’m loving the look of this playful range of bright prints, especially the palm tree notebook. An easy pick up buy in-store.”

Helen Osgerby – Simple Shape:

1. Wrap | J43

“You can’t help but be knocked sideways by this super bright ‘dazzle’ pattern. These things would definitely be uplifting on a Monday morning.”

2. Anneka Textiles | UAL Now

“Excellent design and styling using end-product or industry waste is exactly what the textile industry has needed for a long time. I really love this wool basket and think it would work in so many different interiors.”

3. Adriana Homewares | E23

“They marry traditional technology, sampling their designs on a hand loom, with hi-tech industry. I love the strong and precise looking design of these cushions, their ethics are good and they’re designing and making in the UK.”

4. Bohemia Design | G66

“These aren’t a perfect fit for me as Simple Shape only stocks pieces that are designed and made in the UK, but I do think they’re brilliant. The colours are great and the design is simple and strong.”

5. M O S S Trading | A6

“I don’t stock skincare product in the Simple Shape shop yet but if I did, this cream from M O S S Trading would be a strong contender.”
